Welcome to Mrs. Vahling's 4th grade class

 

This year we will be continuing our program called 'Caught Being Virtuous'. Check out our growing hive buzzing with virtues on the wall between the 4th and 5th grade classrooms. When you are caught being virtuous, you will be given a piece of the hive (a hexagon) to fill out and add to the wall.

Social studies is full of vocabulary terms, quizzes, discussions, and projects. One of our main objectives in fourth grade is to learn about our fifty states: their locations, capitals, and abbreviations. There are many wonderful websites to visit to practice these. Click on the buttons underneath for some examples. We divide the U.S. into 5 regions and are tested on each. The students will need to know the abbreviations, the capitals, the location, and the names of each state. At the end of the year we will have a test on all fifty states.

Multiplication facts: DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THEM! We have practice timings before each daily lesson, after covering 5 lessons, we have a test and a timing for a grade. The students shouldn't have homework to bring home. However, I do send a review sheet the day before a test--I strongly suggest they go over the lessons on the sheet.
