About St. Thomas:

Location: St. Thomas the Apostle School is located in Newton, Illinois, an hour west of Terre Haute, Indiana and two hours east of St. Louis, Missouri. Newton is 25 miles southeast of Effingham, Illinois. The city has approximately 3000 residents and is the county seat of Jasper County. Jasper County is a rural community proud of its agricultural heritage. Other towns and villages in Jasper County are Ste. Marie, Wheeler, Falmouth, Rose Hill, Hidalgo, Hunt City, Yale,
West Liberty, Willow Hill, and Gila.

Admissions: Students from throughout Jasper County attend St. Thomas Catholic School. St. Thomas admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded, or made available to the students of the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administrated programs.

St. Thomas School gives preference in admission to Catholic students who are members of St. Thomas Parish; then to Catholic students who are not members of St. Thomas Parish; finally, to students who are not Catholic. While non-Catholics may, for sufficient reason, be accepted into St. Thomas School, the adminstration reserves the right to refuse them. If they are accepted into the school, they must meet certain requirements.

Grade Levels Served: St. Thomas School serves students in preschool through eighth grade. The average class size is 15 students. There is one classroom per grade level. Total enrollment for the 2012-13 school year is 133 students.
